Stella Maris Academy is currently seeking to fill the following teaching positions for the 2019/2020 academic year:

St. John’s Campus

  • Music & Choir Teacher - .30 FTE (up to 12 hours/week)

  • Middle School Art Teacher - .20 FTE (up to 8 hours/week)

Holy Rosary Campus

  • Music Teacher - .50 FTE (up to 20 hours/week)

St. James Campus

  • Music & Choir Teacher - .50 FTE (up to 20 hours/week)

  • Middle School Spanish Teacher - .20 FTE (up to 8 hours/week)

  • Kindergarten Teacher - .40 FTE (up to 16 hours/week, T & Th)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts classes in all subject areas assigned in accordance with school curriculum, mission and philosophy.

  • Maintains a collegial atmosphere and fosters a positive and inviting climate for learning in and out of the classroom, treating all students and staff with dignity and respect.

  • Incorporates Catholic values through word and example while encouraging the faith development of each child.

  • Maintain productive, supportive relationships with students, parents and coworkers.

Stella Maris Academy is also seeking to fill the following staff position for the 2019-2020 academic year:

  • Activities Coordinator - .20 FTE (flexible - avg of 8 hours/week)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Work in conjunction with on school leadership and the family association to approve and establish athletic and other activities and events at SMA.

  2. Coordinates with school and parish use of school facilities for all activities and events.

  3. Works cooperatively with all coaches, volunteers and program directors.

  4. Determines school-sponsored and volunteer-run programs.

  5. Trains coaches, site supervisors and volunteers and ensures they meet all requirements before leading any practices or activities.

  6. Approves and supervises summer activities, opportunities and facility use.

  7. Coordinates middle school activities during and after the school day.

  8. Supervise on-site activities or ensures that a trained site-supervisor is present throughout the activity and to close the school upon termination of school usage.

  9. Reach out to parishes and families to offer opportunities to home-schooled and religious education students.

  10. Respond in a timely manner to parent and coworker requests/questions.

  11. Organize and place uniform apparel orders.

  12. Train campus offices on the registration process and procedures.

  13. Promote upcoming activities through the use of social media, SMA newsletters, emails and parish bulletins.  Coordinate with communications coordinator.

  14. Develop programming that takes advantage of SMA campus facilities.

  15. Develop summer programming opportunities for SMA and parish families.

  16. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree preferred.

  2. Collaborative/friendly work style with ability to project professionalism and sincerity.

  3. Possess good organizational skills and is capable of multi-tasking.

  4. Strong communication skills with the ability to reach school families and the greater community.
