TEACHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts classes in all subject areas assigned in accordance with school curriculum, mission and philosophy.

  • Maintains a collegial atmosphere and fosters a positive and inviting climate for learning in and out of the classroom, treating all students with dignity and respect.

  • Teaches Catholic values through word and example while encouraging the faith development of each child, incorporating the Gospel message and values.

  • Communicates regularly with parents and administration working effectively with all members of the school community.

  • Keeps current and accurate records (grades, assignments, permanent files, attendance, inventories of instructional material and equipment, etc.).

  • Responsible for policies and duties as outlined in the handbook.

  • Attends and/or completes workshops, in-services, trainings and regular teacher meetings and participates in planning with colleagues.

  • Conducts oneself in a professional manner, striving to sustain the highest degree of ethical conduct.

  • Exhibits competence in instructional methods and subject matter(s) while conducting ongoing curriculum development.

  • Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Assistant Principal - Full Time - Three Openings (11 months: August 1 - June 15)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage day to day operations and logistics at assigned campus, including but not limited to campus schedule and events

  • Manage staff meetings and communications (internal and external); in collaboration with principal when necessary and appropriate

  • Be a present and engaging leader to students, families, and staff to ensure a joyful sense of welcoming exists

  • Develop and build campus culture that aligns with the values and mission of SMA

  • Oversee student disciple procedure, including teacher / parent collaboration and communication

  • Organize and administer learning support needs of students (IEPs, ISPs, Accommodation Plans), consult and collaborate with with principal when necessary

  • Manage and oversee substitute teacher / staff needs

  • Collaborate with with Family Association campus leads to support the activities of the association and ensure they meet the needs of the campus / academy

  • Manage and oversee extended day program as need on the campus

  • Collaborate with the principal and leadership team for support and direction to ensure academy-wide initiatives are supported and campus needs are consistently met

  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position is responsible for supervising staff at the site (administrative assistant, support staff)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Preference to a valid and current teaching and/or administrative license

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education

  • Classroom teacher experience (3 years or more preferred)

  • Collaborative/friendly work style with ability to project professionalism, sincerity, calmness, and stability

  • Active member of a Catholic community in order to express personal knowledge of the Catholic faith and commitment to Catholic ideals

  • Possess good organizational skills and is capable of multitasking

  • Maintains confidentiality

  • Proficient with computer technology

  • Successfully pass a criminal background check

Cook - Part Time - Holy Rosary Campus - up to 30 hours per week

Direct all kitchen functions, including but not limited to food purchasing, receiving, preparation and maintenance of quality standards, safety, sanitation and cleanliness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively in a positive, friendly, and professional manner with all employees, students, parents, volunteers and contacts.

  • Identify any hazards in the daily operation of the kitchen.

  • Assist in food preparation activities and take corrective actions as needed, to protect the health of the diners.

  • Ensure that food safety policies and procedures are followed.

  • Prepare and serve food according to current standards and appropriate allotments/proportions.

  • Maintain kitchen facilities according to all safety and health standards.

  • Assist as asked with reports required by the state food service program.

  • Keep inventory of supplies and reorder as necessary.

  • Maintain records and other documentation to support the program.

  • File reports required by the state food service program.

  • Help maintain a clean kitchen, freezer, refrigerator, ovens, and pantry.

  • Maintain physical and information security at all times; respect confidentiality/privacy.

  • Maintain all protocols for a licensed kitchen.

  • Lend assistance to other staff as needed.

  • Attend and/or complete training as directed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. Graduation from high school or equivalent.

  2. Experience in related work.

  3. Experience working with school related business and/or food service work.

  4. Must show personal initiative.

  5. Successfully pass a criminal background check.

Summer Program Assistants - Full and Part Time Positions

The Summer Program Assistant will assist the Summer Program Director with the implementation of a quality program that enriches the students spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. The Summer Program Assistant will maintain a safe and educational learning environment for young children by successfully implementing the program’s daily activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement the program curriculum as planned by the Summer Program Director to ensure a quality experience for all participants.

  • Work with program personnel to implement engaging, developmentally appropriate educational enrichment curriculum and programming which expands and supports student learning experiences beyond the classroom.

  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships through effective and timely communication with the program director, other program personnel, and other building staff members, such as the principal, custodians, teachers, and food service personnel.

  • Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating and contributing information on a continuous basis.

  • Implement program procedures effectively to ensure the safe being of all participants.

  • Assist the program director in addressing the ongoing needs of the students and parents.

  • Observe, monitor, and participate in children’s play activities.

  • Promote a safe and healthy environment based on safety standards set within the program.

  • Efficiently redirect inappropriate student behaviors and implement the program discipline system to effectively monitor and guide proper student behavior.

  • Support the emotional and social development of children.

  • Report any concerns and questions regarding the program (students, parents, equipment needs, supplies, other staff, volunteers, etc.) to the program director.

  • Maintain accurate and organized records such as attendance records, snack records, timesheets, incident reports, and all other paperwork as instructed by the program director to ensure program compliance and quality operations.

  • Help prepare snacks for the children and clean-up the kitchen and snack area.

  • Assist in the cleaning and straightening of the room and equipment before, during, and after the program. This includes washing tables, chairs, and toys, putting up chairs, and locking the building at the end of the day.

  • Continue professional development by attending staff meetings and trainings.

  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.

  • Enjoy being with students and foster their spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and physical development through the duties outlined above.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. Experience implementing educational programming and working with students as a teacher, educational aide, after school care aide, and/or daycare assistant.

  2. A sense of joy in working with young people.

  3. A high sense of professionalism and willingness to communicate with other staff as well as parents.

Extended Day - Part Time Positions

Stella Maris Academy is seeking joyful, child-centered individuals to support caring for students before and afterschool each school day. This position has flexibility in scheduling and is an important extension of our academy’s mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supports the school’s spiritual, pastoral and educational mission

  • Provides necessary staff support to the school principal

  • Works collaboratively in a positive, friendly and professional manner with all employees, parents, students, volunteers and contacts

  • Prepares the materials for each session 

  • Provides technology support to the students

  • Maintains documentation/records including checking in and checking out, student Extended Day hours, emergency information, etc.

  • Maintains physical and information security at all times; respect confidentiality/privacy

  • Keeps an organized and clean learning environment

  • Assists students with skills and lessons as directed

  • Helps students with problem-solving as needed

  • Ensures safety of children on the premises and at play

  • Lends assistance to other staff as needed

  • Attends and/or completes all workshops and training as directed

  • Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits

  • Performs other duties as needed

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. Graduation from high school or equivalent

Director of Communications and Public Relations

Part Time or Full Time

Collaborating closely with the president, principals of the academy, and as a member of the leadership team, the Director of Communications and Public Relations fulfills the mission and advances the goals of the school by planning, guiding, evaluating and executing external communications efforts of the school. The Director of Communications and Public Relations envisions, implements, and manages communication strategies to create excellent school-wide communication among its stakeholder groups. The position serves as an integral member of a committed team dedicated to advancing the mission of the Church through the school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, write, edit and coordinate school-wide and external publications/communication and grant acknowledgment such as CREED in collaboration with the Stella Maris Academy, president, leadership team and board ensuring completeness, accuracy and consistency in communication.

  • Evaluate and best utilize communication channels using multiple modes including the student information system, website, newsletters, social media, publications/articles and email campaigns/platforms. 

  • Establish and implement best practice communication processes, protocol and policy to ensure consistent and effective communication through various stakeholders.

  • Develop and implement a communication plan that supports the marketing efforts of the academy through collaboration with leadership team.

  • Communicate with area parishes through regular bulletin announcement entries, including CREED grant acknowledgment

  • Coordinating and executing the design and production of the school’s materials and school related publications, including the school website.

  • Coordinate social media campaign.

  • Coordinate completion of annual yearbook.

  • Maintain and update the school website.

  • Organize and contribute to a library of photos, audio and video for use in print and electronic media.

  • Serve as media and public relations liaison handling press releases and media coordination.

  • Support the work of Mission Advancement by ways of event support, planning, promotion, and communication.

  • Communicate effectively with the faculty and staff to keep them informed.

  • Fulfill strategic goals based on strategic plan.

  • Attend and/or complete all workshops and training as directed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  1. Bachelor's Degree in communications related field preferred or

  2. Job related certificate or

  3. Similar work experience

  4. Utilize technology platforms that support communication efforts; including but not limited to, social media, publication design tools, and the google suite.

  5. Familiarity with or ability to learn website maintenance.

  6. Collaborative/friendly work style with ability to project professionalism and sincerity.

Substitute Teachers

The substitute teacher is assigned to work in the absence of a regular teacher to aid students in understanding a subject matter, as well as to provide skills required for lessons and purposeful training for the classroom he/she is assigned. Substitute teachers are appointed on a temporary basis pending the return of a permanent teacher who is absent due to extended leave or illness.
