Our Faith

Our community is rooted in the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church and is dedicated to developing the minds and hearts of young people to lead, love and serve like Jesus Christ our Savior. We strive to sprinkle opportunities for grace throughout the school day with prayer, sacraments, and catechesis. The faith is not limited to just formal religion class, but is something we intertwine into all subjects and activities.

Our school is a sacred place where we form the mind, body, and soul of a student. We have the privilege to respond to Christ’s Great Commission by forming young disciples and teaching them from a young age that they are made for eternity and the powerful truth that the God of the universe created them, knows them and loves them.

Who is Stella Maris?

Stella Maris is Latin for “Star of the Sea”. Our Lady Star of the Sea is one of the most ancient titles for our heavenly mother. Popular author and theologian, Dr. Scott Hahn, reminds us that Mary “is like a star that sailors watch so that they can steer the rudder of their ship in a straight direction through the darkness of night. We must let her be our guiding star. We must ask her to give us inner conversion. We must ask her to help us make a sincere examination of our life. We must ask her to make straight the way for her Son to enter into our heart and show us the way to the harbor of heaven.”

Meet Ms. Jenny Boran

Our Faith Formation Director

Hello! My name is Ms. Boran and I serve on all Stella Maris Academy campuses as the faith formation director. I love Jesus Christ, the Catholic faith and having the opportunity to share it with our SMA community of students, staff and families. Some my favorite things I get to be involved with at SMA are Little Flowers club, middle school campus ministry and helping plan field trips!

Stella Maris Academy prioritizes the safety of its students. If people are to worship, study or celebrate together in the Catholic Community, they must do so in a safe environment. The Victim Assistance page on the Diocese of Duluth website has been updated to reflect the policy adopted by the USCCB for reporting abuse or misconduct.  The link to the revised page is https://www.dioceseduluth.org/Vict
