Ave Maria: Art gift wows Stella Maris Academy students

In a work roughly 2½ laborious years in the making, artist Jeffrey Larson depicted Mary appearing before the children of Duluth, much as she was reported to have appeared miraculously before the children of Fatima, Portugal, more than a century ago.

Larson said he considers the painting "the largest, most complicated and ambitious" work of his 40-year career as an artist. He noted that the unique opportunity to work on such a scale has expanded his perspective.
